We would all like to congratulate ‘our Kelly’ and welcome the arrival of baby Jessica!
In the (very) early hours of this morning Jessica was born, weighing in at 7.5lb! Both mum and baby Jessica are doing great!

Not only is today the 47th Bank Holiday of the month, its also Royal Wedding day and we are feeling very British over at Fab Spider. We’ve draped the Union Flag* across the back of our website in celebration of everything British (as well as enjoying the day off in this sun)!
* The correct name for the British flag is the “Union Flag”. It is only called a “Union Jack” when flown from a ship!

Congratulations to our developer, Dom, who passed his driving test today! We’ll be unleashing him onto the roads in one of the Fab Spider Smart cars at some point in the next few weeks so keep your eyes open and look out for him (…and give him plenty of room!)

Summit Training – Another Happy Customer!

Fab Spider were recently commissioned to redevelop Summit Training’s website. After completing the job, we received a testimonial from Scott Watson (founder) and we thought we would share it with you.
“Following lengthy discussions with a number of web development companies, Summit appointed Fab Spider to re-design and re-build it corporate website.

Snow bother at all

The weather seems to have affected a lot of people across the country. Freezing temperatures, icy roads and… oh yeah, it snowed a bit.
But when the going gets tough, the tough get… snowboarding!
Ben, one of our creative team, snowboarded to work to make sure business carried on as usual for Fab Spider. This ingenuity saw Ben featured in the Halifax Courier.

He’s done it!

A few hours ago Ben, our skateboarding techno punk achieved what he set out to do. He reached Everest Basecamp!
Ben has spent the last 2 weeks trekking over the Himalayas, and during the course of the journey has endured freezing temperatures, altitude sickness and worst of all (especially for Ben) a limited signal on his iPhone.
As you can see in the picture on the left he is currently experiencing the same temperatures as us at home, however he has a much better view.
We wish Ben a safe journey home, and look forward to having him back in the office, where I’m sure he will be sharing all the stories and photo’s from his once in a lifetime trip.
Well done Ben!

Fab Spider are looking to add another monkey to the troop, this time we require one who knows how to use crayons.
We require another Web Developer to join our creative team.
This role will see you work as part of our creative team, designing and developing compliant websites to a brief obtained during your discussions with the client.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- An ability to code xHTML & CSS to W3C Compliance
- Knowledge of Javascript and / or jQuery beneficial, but not essential
- A working knowledge of CMS platforms such as WordPress and Magento, and must be comfortably able to create Web Standards Compliant themes.
- Experience with PHP & MySQL.
- Good knowledge of graphical software packages e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator
- A keen eye, attention to detail and efficient working practices
- An understanding of browsers and rendering issues / bugs with the standard browsers
- An understanding of SEO techniques within the website build
The candidate will be required to:
- Communicate with clients in a friendly manner, building up a rapport
- Manage their own client database.
- Communicate ideas, and contribute to discussions within the creative team.
- Work efficiently to hit deadlines and keep on schedule with the flow of work
- Join in with the brew rounds, and deliver a cup of tea that lives up to the high standard currently set by Dom

After a quick jaunt up Wales’s biggest hill, Ben, our skateboarding techno punk feels trained and prepared for anything Mount Everest might throw at him. His sabbatical to the Himalaya commences on Wednesday 18thNovember and Ben is expected to reach Everest base camp by 2nd December. He has promised to send a postcard.

Finally, we launch our new-look website. It’s been on the drawing board for months, but with a healthy workflow and some large, exciting projects to concentrate on, Dom and the rest of the development team have had their hands full.
