Frequently Asked Questions…
WHAT SPEEDS CAN YOU GUARANTEE?
We never give customers a guaranteed speed. Business broadband is described as “up to” because your actual speed will vary. This is largely dependent on the distance from your location to the exchange/cabinet. Temporary factors like severe weather can also reduce the quality of the line. When you sign up with Fab Spider we will give you an estimate of the speed you should be getting. Usually the speed you get should fall within this range.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STANDARD AND FIBRE BROADBAND?
Standard broadband – The average download speeds for standard broadband is 10Mb but the actual speed you get will vary depending on how far you are from the exchange/cabinet, the quality of your phone line, the time of day and the availability of broadband in your area.
Fibre broadband – The average download speeds for fibre broadband is 50Mb but the actual speed you get will vary depending on how far you are from the exchange/cabinet, the quality of your phone line, the time of day and the availability of fibre broadband in your area.
HOW CAN I GET FASTER BROADBAND?
The UK is currently rolling out FTTP (fibre to the premises) and plans to make the UK “Full Fibre” by 2030. Homes and businesses in some UK cities have access to FTTP right now with download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit. Click here for more information about Fab Spider’s FTTP packages. Alternatively, e-mail your full name, first line of address and postcode and we can let you know if it is available in your area, along with the speeds you should expect and the packages we have available for you.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY BROADBAND GOES DOWN?
If you can’t connect to the internet please DO NOT reset the router. The router has been configured by one of our engineers and if it is reset then it will need to be reconfigured. Please call 01422 822 122 and let us know that your broadband is down. We can do a line test from the cabinet to the router and if there is a fault we can get an OpenReach engineer out either on the same day or an am appointment the day after. If the router is faulty we will send a new one for next day delivery.
